Oregon Coast- Lincoln City

The girls did really well on the drive over to the Oregon Coast. We stayed at my in laws' new beach house which is a block from the beach. Saturday morning, McKenna woke up at the crack of dawn so we went to the beach to look at the tide pools. It was really windy and really cold. Ryleigh was almost frozen, poor girl. But we braved it and saw some gigantic star fish and anemones. We had lunch at Jay's which was really good. Too bad I may have had an allergic reaction to the clams or fish. My face broke out in a rash Saturday night. Benadryl and Zyrtec fixed it by Sunday morning. Sunday was a relaxing day. Dan and I took a nice walk on the beach. Walking on dry sand can kill your back when you are pregnant. I didn't last too long. Kenna and I took a nap in the afternoon while Dan and Ryleigh went for a hike. Kenna wasn't feeling really great, she has a cough, and couldn't stop coughing. I took her to the doctor's when we got back to Meridian and got her drugs. McKenna learned how to play Battleship in Oregon. She loved it. She wanted to take it home but we left it at the beach house for others to play. Sunday evening we played Canasta (even my father in law played). Monday consisted of cleaning and getting ready to go home. We left after lunch at Izzy's (all you can eat buffet) and got home a little before midnight. I kept Kenna home from Kindergarten the next morning because of the doctor's appointment and she was tired. She is getting better. Here are some pics from the tide pools and one of me showing my pooching belly (for you Tracie).

Fire Safety

Ryleigh and I went with McKenna's kindergarten class to a nearby fire station for a field trip today. It was in the 90s outside and we had to walk. The walk was about a mile each way. Boy, were those kids hot. I made it thankfully. I remembered to bring water for myself, Ryleigh, and McKenna so we were set. When we made it to the fire station, the kids watched a short movie about fire safety. Then went outside to see the truck. They rolled on the ground pretending to be on fire and saw all the gear firefighters wear. It is important not to be scared of a firefighter when they come looking for you because the mask and clothing could really freak a child out. McKenna had fun and Ryleigh was really good. She even got to participate when the kids crawled down the hallway pretending smoke was in the air. She is fast. Here are a few photos of McKenna and her class. The last one of Ryleigh is blurry, but I had to include it because she looks so cute!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was great! Dan had his Sunday morning meetings cancelled so he could make me breakfast. We had blueberry muffins, eggs, and hash browns (on my new Bobby Flay cast iron griddle). Ryleigh and McKenna made me gifts at daycare and at school. Dan made me a DVD slideshow of the girls and bought me flowers and a card that plays music (Ryleigh chose it and wouldn't let it go so he had to buy that one). We invited the Meldrums over for. The roast was really tender and delicious and we had rolls, carrots, potatoes, and jello. What a feast! The weather was awesome so we went for a quick walk to the park and had a really relaxing day. Unfortunately, there was no time for a nap for Dan and myself. I guess you can't have everything. Ryleigh is getting really steady at standing up, but she just won't take the risk of walking. We have gotten a couple more steps out of her but she is really cautious. Soon I will be wishing she just stayed put so I won't have to chase her. McKenna is learning how to catch with a softball/baseball mitt. She is doing great, but the ball has hit her in the face and head a couple of times. She cries but gets back into it. I am glad she doesn't give up really easily. I will have to get a picture of her and Dan playing. Thumper tries to steal the ball every now and then too. The pregnancy is moving right along. Baby girl #3 is a mover and a shaker. I am not really huge yet but starting to get there. My next appointment is the fun glucose test at the beginning of June. It is not that bad but does give me a nice buzz for a while.
